the tutorials were great, but i had already read most of the best ones, by manually searching before i even heard of the hospital. the one on one? for me it was inexistant. I asked for help, got only one answer from the hospital and it was a link (which i had already read) reference for a tutorial.

I was really looking for something else, like.... even someone telling i totally suck would be better than i got.

i still have hope though.

When did you submit a Patient Request?

I don't recall ever seeing one from you. =)

sometime ago... months. probably june.

i asked for some critic on my galery and pointed at one or two pieces and stated I have problems drawing hands and backgrounds.

the reply i got had ONLY a hand drawing tutorial.

I thought I was being clear when i asked for critic, because i wanted to figure how to improve. and i had only stated what i suck at because i didnt want critic about the hands or background, like ok i know i suck at hands and background, tell me about the rest.

oh well. maybe i wasnt clear enough or asked for the request in the wrong place!

thx for asking anyway :3

I checked the Patient Journals back up til January.

You're not on any of them.

Patient Requests should be submitted in a note to :iconartistshospitaler:.

Many, many patients ask for help, receive it, and disappear. It is like throwing effort into a black hole. We have no idea if they even read our notes.

Therefore, when addressing Patient Requests which ask for help with multiple subjects, the staff may begin by helping with only ONE subject.

You can only study one subject at a time anyway. Some Patients receive suggested exercises and reply, "I don't have time to do that." (Well, thanks for wasting ours...)

If the Patient gets back to the staff, the staff are happy to continue assisting with the next subject.

ALL Patients are asked to send Feedback in notes to ~ArtistsHospitalER. Whether the help was adequate or not, they are asked to say so.

If the help they receive is NOT adequate, and they say so, the staff will try to address the deficit.

If the patient does NOT ask for further help, it's their own fault if they don't get any. The staff are not mind readers.

However, if it's that difficult to avail yourself of free help, you might prefer to pay for classes. Be prepared to spend a few months and several hundred dollars to even begin making real progress.

Good luck. =)

ok i see.

i WILL try again.

but id like to leave a hint here.

as you mentioned that sometimes the person asks for help, get it and never come back again... maybe something similar that happened to me happens to them. and what really happened to me was that i thought the reply i got wasnt adequate. i considered it wasnt really what i asked for. and jsut thought: "ok, this is not what i was expecting" so i just moved on and forgot about it, im not the kind of person who will reply saying "hey this is not what i asked for"

so i dunno... maybe if it was clear in the reply that i would be helped one subject at a time... and maybe if i had been more clear that i didnt want help drawing hands...

thx for the explains anyway :)

Not to pick, but it looks like you did ask for help with hands. Since that is frequently an artist's most pressing, difficult, and important need, it was therefore...

the reply i got had ONLY a hand drawing tutorial

...addressed first.

and what really happened to me was that i thought the reply i got wasnt adequate.

Fair enough. But the help we offer is free. If you're expecting professional-level help, please expect to pay professional-level prices.

Expression College for Digital Arts Total tuition for all BAS programs: $79,600 (not including boarding or interest)

Academy of Art University Estimated Expenses per Year: $20,343 (not including boarding or interest)

So far, people have been so interested in helping the Hospital provide better service that we've bought most of our own $30.00 subscriptions.

That's okay, and that's the point of the Hospital: to provide free, accessible art help to anyone. But if you're expecting a thorough art course, get out your wallet. =)
